Julia Wong

A creature of urban settings and global travels, Julia is widely recognized by design aficionados and media giants for her captivating residential and commercial interiors and exteriors. Having practiced in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Los Angeles, her contemporary renditions of luxury and elegance have earned her a reputation as one of the top tastemakers from coast to coast. From French Country to East meets West, Julia's effortlessly stylish interiors most recently appeared on E! Entertainment in a feature called "incredible" by the network's producers.

Julia's retail experience includes North America, Europe and Asia, ranging from Couture to mass and from design to execution, including putting together lifestyle/fashion collections, merchandising, and manufacturing. As a graduate of Ravensbourne School of Art and Design and the London School of Fashion, Julia began her professional career merchandising for Harvey Nichols Dept. Soon she landed a role working as a design assistant to the renowned fashion designer John Galliano. She eventually gained a position with Chinese apparel manufacturers and American retailers such as The Limited Group where she sourced extensively in Asia and put together concepts and looks for its private labels. When she transformed the Fornari brand from hum-drum jeans into high-end casual wear, she took her focus from fashion to interiors.

In addition to her globally inspired and graphically interpreted product designs, Julia is currently making way for a forthcoming collection available exclusively through manufacturer Haute House. Soon after she was invited by Haute House to launch their first high-end designer collection at High Point Spring 2007, the collection was well received by major chains such as Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Horchow and Baker. As a result of her efforts, Haute House was selected by Neiman Marcus in 2008 to be its exclusive designer/manufacturer. Before she knew it, Julia was hired by manufacturer "The Rug Market" to introduce the Walt Disney Signature Rug Collection for Fall 2008. Julia designed concepts from scratch including conceptual story boarding to final drawings to launch Disney's first high-end rug collection, working and coordinating with Drexel Heritage, creators of the furniture line for Disney.

Fluent in Mandarin and Japanese, Julia's first projects were in Tokyo, and served as a foundation for the global chic of Julia's design aesthetic, fusing London culture, European tradition, Eastern sensitivities and American energy.

Focusing on the American market, Julia moved to Los Angeles in 2000, where she added the businesses and residences of Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Calabasas, Brentwood and Beverly Hills to her international list of clientele. To provide her clients with a more holistic approach to interior design services, Julia is also the namesake and creator of a signature product line, Julia Wong Designs.
